Because of the high voltage and high current in the new energy vehicle and the limited space, the charging piles and cables are exposed outdoors for a long time. The particularity of the use environment puts forward very strict requirements for the performance of cable materials. New energy automotive cables need to have high and low temperature resistance, oil and water resistance, flame retardant, tear resistance, insulation, UV aging resistance and other properties. Common materials are TPE, TPU, XLPO, NBR + PVC, chloroprene rubber, silicone rubber and so on.

1, TPE

TPE thermoplastic elastomer, also known as thermoplastic rubber TPR.

TPE includes styrene, olefin, diene, vinyl chloride, polyester, ester, amide, organic fluorine, silicone and ethylene (TPS, TPU, TPO, TPV, etc.). At present, most of the elastomers are based on SEBS. TPE Material Applied to Charging Gun Cable

Advantages: The process is simple, the density is small, the price is moderate, the overall cable is very soft, and can meet the requirements of existing standards.

Disadvantages: mostly with unsaturated bonds, poor temperature, low oil resistance, especially gasoline; poor weather resistance, poor thermal stability of long-term use materials, material mechanical properties under high temperature, high risk of cracking in outdoor use; dirty resistance, sticky hands.

Working temperature: cold resistance - 50 degrees; temperature resistance less than 120 degrees.

2, TPU

TPU, namely thermoplastic polyurethane elastomer, is divided into polyester and polyether molecular structure. It consists of rigid block and flexible chain. Injection molding accounts for more than 40% in the processing technology, and extrusion molding accounts for about 35%. Spring expansion length can reach 2-6 times of the original spring length.

The polyurethane sheath material for charging pile cable is made of TPU resin as the main material, adding environmental protection or halogen-free flame retardant, antioxidant and other additives through mixing, plasticizing and granulating. It has the characteristics of flexibility, rolling resistance, voltage resistance, high temperature pressure resistance, aging resistance, acid and alkali resistance, salt fog resistance, waterproof, etc.

Advantages: Excellent high tension, high tension, toughness and aging resistance, environmental protection materials.

Disadvantage: At present, domestic processing difficulties, fewer raw material enterprises, high cost.

Working temperature: cold resistance - 40 degrees; temperature resistance less than 150 degrees.

3. Polyvinyl chloride elastomer

PVC polyvinyl chloride cable, based on polyvinyl chloride resin, can be adjusted by adding different amount of plasticizer to reduce its "glass transition" temperature, so as to have good flexibility, but also increase plasticity, making it easy to process and shape.

After crosslinking, the chain segment forms a network structure, and the elastic stretching length can reach 2-4 times of the original spring length.

Advantages: flame retardant and insulation, acid resistance, oil resistance, easy processing and modification, cheap.

Disadvantages: Black smoke and HCl gases are present when burned.

Working temperature: cold resistance - 40 degrees; temperature resistance within 105 degrees (according to customer requirements).

4. Silicone Rubber

AGR silicone rubber cable made of silica gel material has good elasticity. The suitable temperature range is - 60 C - 200 C. Voltage: 300/500V conductor material. The process principle is similar to that of rubber. It is processed by mixing and high pressure forming.

Advantages: heat resistance, cold resistance and weather resistance, waterproof, good flexibility, easy installation.

Disadvantages: oil-resistant, tear resistance is poor, the price is more expensive.

Working temperature: cold resistance - 40 degrees; temperature resistance less than 200 degrees.

5, XLPE

XLPE crosslinked polyethylene (XLPE) is a kind of physical or chemical method to change the molecular structure of XLPE insulating material from linear molecular structure to network linear structure. PE is the base resin and silane is the bridge bond material.

Advantages: high crosslinking, good flexibility, good insulation, light structure, convenient installation, cheap.

Disadvantage: poor heat resistance, difficult to control the color difference between batches.

Working temperature: cold resistance - 50 degrees; temperature resistance less than 100 degrees.
